ABOUT - Stevie Jones and The Wildfires

Stevie Jones and The Wildfires hail from Northants UK and create a unique blend of acoustic-driven rock. Originally a trio who met at one of singer songwriters Stevie’s Jones ‘Wildfire Sessions’ Open Mic’s the original line up featured ex Martin Stephenson and The Daintees bassist Lou Short alongside the tech-Metal inspired Jake Patrick. After assembling a set centred around Stevie’s strong acoustic based original they began gigging hard and in 2015 recorded a crowd funded debut album ‘Stratigraphic Heart’. Recorded at Parlour Studios in Kettering with acclaimed producers Russ Russell and Neil Haynes it featured a number of guests including Marshall Gill from New Model Army, receiving favourable reviews.

The line up expanded not long after release in 2016 to include guitarist Vassilis Damitriadis, with Bob Dabrowski coming in on bass with Autumn Dawn Leader an occasional guest on piano and vocals.  The second album Angels and Sirens‘ produced by Adam Ellis on Deadline Studios, Leicester was released this March and featured appearances from LA guitarist Janet Robin (String Revolution, Lindsay Buckingham Band) and top Leicester harp player Sean Clutterham. The songs are split between hard-edged guitar based songs and more delicate acoustic arrangements which matches the band’s ability to adapt to different moods both live and in the studio, touching tales of modern day sex, love, politics and life in the music industry.

‘A hint of Counting Crows, The Long Ryders, Stone Temple Pilots and the band’s long time heroes New Model Army...Timeless wistfulness combined with rollocking rhythms keeps the album cooking from end to end’.

‘wordy lyrics with rootsy Rock music. Acoustic guitars underpin the songs, but there’s some fiery electric guitar to be found as well....a bright and energetic album..’

ABOUT - Stevie Jones

Stevie’s acoustic roots were laid down busking and playing floor spots at folk clubs in his native Northants. In the 90s he lived for two years in Germany, extensively gigging in the duo Acres Wild and then spent time in Dublin, playing on the city’s vibrant open mic scene - experiences which provided him with a wealth of influences and inspiration. Back home in 2001 after meeting up at a local acoustic night he was joined on stage by the guitar skills of Mark Gill which forged a musical partnership spanning 10 years building up a reputation as a solid live act. Support gigs included Nick Harper, Ian Mc Nabb, Chris Helme, The Trews, Justin Sullivan and Dean White, Blackballed plus slots at Leicesters’ top festivals Big Session and Summer Sundae.  He set up the live music service Wildfire Sessions in 2011 putting on gigs and open mics across the East Midlands which he operated full time but is now focusing more on the band, The Wildfires. He also plays as a covers artist solo or with his duo 'The Waltzers', featuring Rob Matheson.

His solo set is is not only a stripped down version of what you might see with the band - he always plays to the room, blending his back catalogue and true life stories with a wide range of covers and influences spanning from David Bowie to Van Morrison to Neil Young and Ryan Adams and much more.

''..one of the hardest working musicians I know and a man absolutely dedicated to his craft.'
